In this Portrait from the Life, first published in 1782 from the original sketch in oil, are united the talents of Hogarth and Bartolozzi; but the Plate, which is executed in the dotted manner so much in fashion, should have been etched, or engraved, like those excellent performances by Bartolozzi after the drawings of Guercino; as spirit, rather than delicacy, is the characteristic of our Artist's Shrimp-Girl.
