A mysterious metal monolith discovered in a remote part of the United States has - just as mysteriously - disappeared.
The structure, which is around 12ft tall, was found planted into the ground in a red rock cove in Utah last week immediately sparking speculation about how it got there.
But the Utah Bureau of Land Management said today that it had been removed.
On Facebook, the bureau said: "We have received credible reports that the illegally installed structure, referred to as the 'monolith' has been removed from Bureau of Land Management (BLM) public lands by an unknown party.

A mysterious monolith that was found in the remote Utah desert has been removed by an 'unknown party' after its sudden arrival sparked theories it was left by aliens.
The shiny triangular pillar, which protruded approximately 12 feet from the red rocks in southern Utah, was spotted last Wednesday by baffled local officials counting bighorn sheep from the air.
However the three-sided structure was removed by 'an unknown party' on Friday evening, the Bureau of Land Management Utah said in a statement.
