The White House Is Downplaying a Report That Trump Shared Classified Intelligence With the Russians
(Time Magazine, 15/05/2017)
President Donald Trump revealed highly classified information about Islamic State militants to Russian officials during a meeting last week, The Washington Post reported Monday, prompting strong condemnation from both Democrats and Republicans.
Three White House officials who were in the May 10 meeting strongly denounced the story, saying no intelligence sources and methods were discussed — but they didn't deny that classified information was disclosed.
Citing current and former U.S. officials, the Post said Trump shared details about an Islamic State terror threat related to the use of laptop computers on aircraft with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and Russian Ambassador to the U.S. Sergey Kislyak.

President Donald Trump disclosed highly classified information to Russia's foreign minister about a planned Islamic State operation, two U.S. officials said on Monday, plunging the White House into another controversy just months into Trump's short tenure in office.
The intelligence, shared at a meeting last week with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and Russian Ambassador Sergei Kislyak, was supplied by a U.S. ally in the fight against the militant group, both officials with knowledge of the situation said.
The White House declared the allegations, first reported by the Washington Post, incorrect.

Donald Trump allegedly revealed highly classified information to Russian foreign minster Sergei Lavrov and Russian ambassador to the US Sergey Kislyak during an Oval Office meeting last week.
The Washington Post reported on Monday that Trump shared details of intelligence gathered about an Isis threat that had been closely guarded within the United States government and among close US allies.
The report said that while Trump did not describe the specific source used to gather the intelligence, he provided highly classified details, apparently connected to an Isis plot related to the use of laptops on board passenger aircraft.

Pelosi: 'What do the Russians have on Donald Trump?'
Olivia Beavers (The Hill, 15/05/2017)
House Minority Leader Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) wondered Monday if the Russians are holding something over President Trump's head in order to get him to cater to their needs.
"There’s something wrong with this picture," Pelosi said at a special CNN town hall with host Chris Cuomo. "And every day I ask the question, 'What do the Russians have on Donald Trump financially, politically or personally that he’s always catering to them?'"
Pelosi was discussing Trump's dismissal of FBI Director James Comey last week, in the midst of an investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election.
