Despite the extended monologue by the monk at the beginning of Sunday night’s finale about how life has no resolutions, Season 3 of The White Lotus did, ultimately, come to a tidy ending—if a rather dark and, if you spent a lot of time reading theories on the Internet, somewhat predictable one. While the deaths in the first two seasons of The White Lotus were almost comical in nature—accidental affairs involving the stabbing of a man who just defecated in a suitcase and a ditzy heiress escaping a murder plot only to trip and fall off a boat—the deaths this season were violent and intentional.

The White Lotus has always promised plenty of beautiful and serene surroundings — and at least one mysterious murder. Creator, writer and director Mike White’s anthology series has entranced viewers since its premiere in 2021. Each season follows a new group of wealthy vacationers as they rest and relax at one of the ritzy White Lotus resorts around the world.The series has so far been filmed at three real Four Seasons resorts, with the first installment taking place in Hawaii, and the second set in Sicily, Italy. The latest season transported viewers to Thailand, where the latest batch of glamorous guests (played by Jason Isaacs, Parker Posey, Carrie Coon, Patrick Schwarzenegger, Walton Goggins and many more) encountered enlightenment, spirituality and death.
