Terrorist alert on mainland over Queen's visit to Dublin

"Scotland Yard received a coded alert that a device had been planted in the capital without identifying a location or a time for the attack, sources told the Daily Telegraph.

"The warning, which used an agreed code-word, was received on Sunday evening and has already resulted in the closure of areas around Buckingham Palace and Trafalgar Square after two separate alerts.

"A spokesman for Scotland Yard said all officers have been advised to be a highly vigilant to ensure the safety of London.

"They advised Londoners to continue to go about their business as usual but added: We encourage the public to remain vigilant and report any information about unusual activity or behaviour which may be terrorist-related to the confidential Anti-Terrorist Hotline."
