"Jurors began deliberating the fate of serial-killer suspect Andre Crawford on Wednesday night after closing arguments in the monthlong trial on charges he raped and murdered 11 women and brutalized a 12th victim. ""Patricia, Rhonda, Angela, Shaguanta, Claudia, Sonji," Assistant State's Attorney George Canellis intoned as he slowly recited the first names of the victims. "Evandre, Nicole, Cheryl, Tommie, Sheryl, and Constance." "Crawford, 47, sat stone-faced, his chin resting on his left hand as he peered over wire-frame glasses as Canellis spoke. He was arrested in 2000 and accused in the series of rapes and murders between 1993 and 1999. One victim was savagely assaulted and left for dead on Thanksgiving night of 1997 but survived. Prosecutors alleged the victims were prostitutes and drug addicts who agreed to trade sex with Crawford for narcotics but were instead attacked and then raped as they lay dying." Read on...
