"Sarah Ferguson was "in the gutter" due to drinking when she promised undercover News of the World reporters access to her former husband, Prince Andrew, in return for £500,000, according to her first interview since the incident.
"The Duchess of York met the US chatshow host Oprah Winfrey for an interview to be broadcast later today. According to an extract released in advance, she tells Winfrey that she has yet to fully watch the newspaper's secretly-recorded video.
""I haven't faced the devil in the face. Because I was in the gutter at that moment," she said, adding: "I'm aware of the fact that I've been drinking, you know - that I was not in my right place.""
