Plans to solve elderly care crisis 'blocked by the Treasury'

Paul Burstow, who lost his job in the reshuffle, says George Osborne’s department has “no sense of urgency” about the plight of pensioners who are forced to sell their homes to pay for care in old age.
Writing in The Daily Telegraph, the Liberal Democrat MP suggests his party leader, Nick Clegg, and David Cameron may also lack the “political will” to help elderly people who are too frail to look after themselves.
The longer the Coalition “kicks the can down the road”, the more elderly and disabled adults and their families will lose their homes and savings, the former care services minister warns.
