"KABUL, Afghanistan A large blast went off in central Kabul on Thursday, sending clouds of dust and smoke into the air, and leaving at least six dead.

"The bomb went off near the Indian Embassy, the Interior Ministry and a hotel, and it left a crater and debris around the area, with bodies scattered around the site.

"Much was still unclear on Thursday morning, but if the Indian Embassy had been the target, it would raise suspicions of the involvement of militants from Pakistan. India is Pakistan's arch rival, and militant groups once nurtured by the Pakistani state have struck Indian targets, like the city of Mumbai last year."
