GPs fear swine flu jabs for children may hit bonuses

"Plans to vaccinate healthy children under the age of 5 against swine flu suffered a setback yesterday after talks between the Government and doctors broke down.

"Ministers and GPs have failed to reach a national deal on the delivery of the vaccine to children aged from 6 months to 5 years old.

"Health visitors and district nurses are now to be asked by NHS trusts to step in, with the Department of Health insisting that the programme would still start within the next two weeks. More than three million healthy children under 5 are to be offered the swine flu jab."
