Former Labour MP Claire Ward has claimed the News of the World may have contributed to the loss of her baby because of the stress it caused after "threatening" to publish a story based on "entirely false allegations" about her.Ward, who has already been awarded substantial damages in relation to phone hacking by the paper, said she received the threatening call from the paper in December 2004 – the same time as the private investigator Glenn Mulcaire was seeking to access her voicemail.
In a submission to the Leveson inquiry she explains she was pregnant at the time "and this stress while we were away had an impact on my health.".
