Clinton chides Pakistan on insurgent havens
KABUL Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton admonished Pakistan on Thursday to do more to eradicate safe havens for terrorists attacking Afghanistan, and she called on both countries to adopt a common strategy of fighting, talking and building to bring security to the region.
Clinton's tough words for Pakistani leaders came hours before the arrival in Islamabad of an usually large delegation of U.S. officials, led by Clinton, to pressure Pakistan to take on the Haqqani network, a Pakistan-based Afghan militant group blamed for assassinations of Afghan leaders and a brazen attack last month on the U.S. Embassy in Kabul.
