Bomb blast in Belfast city centre traced to car
Ben QuinnAn explosive device in a car is believed to have been the source of a blast in the centre of Belfast on Sunday, which occurred after police had sealed off the area where the explosion was reported.
A number of roads were closed off earlier in the evening and army bomb experts were called in to examine a suspicious vehicle parked outside Musgrave street police station.
Witnesses reported hearing a loud bang coming from the area, which is also close to the Belfast city centre's prime retail centre and the city's courts, hours after a security alert was declared after 9pm.
A number of residents living in apartments had been evacuated to a hall while customers in nearby pubs had been told to stay away from the windows.
