Voice referendum, plan to 'abolish' Australia Day in spotlight at rallies around the country

Thousands of people have gathered across the country to take part in Invasion Day rallies, with protesters declaring "Australia Day is dead".

In Sydney, after more than a dozen speeches from First Nations elders and community leaders, the huge crowd has taken to the streets with passing cars beeping their horns in support.

Invasion Day activists call for treaty before Voice

Indigenous rights activists at Sydney’s Invasion Day rally have called for sovereignty and treaty before the Voice in protest of the upcoming Indigenous Voice to Parliament referendum.

“This is the Voice – they don’t want to hear it,” NSW Greens Upper House Candidate Lynda-June Coe said.
