There are no active cases of Covid-19 in New Zealand.

The final case, an Auckland woman in her 50s associated with the St Margaret's rest home in Auckland, has now recovered from the virus.

Today's news of no active Covid-19 cases will have a major influence over Cabinet's decision on whether the country moves to level 1.

NZ to move to level 1 at midnight

New Zealand will move to alert level 1 - and a return to mostly normal lives - from midnight tonight.

Today's Cabinet decision means that events such as funerals, hospitality and public transport can all resume without any restrictions from midnight.

Five ways New Zealand can keep Covid-19 cases at zero

Today, for the first time since 28 February, New Zealand has no active cases of Covid-19.

According to our modelling at the the University of Otago, it is now very likely (well above a 95% chance) New Zealand has completely eliminated the virus. This is in line with modelling by our colleagues at Te Pūnaha Matatini (a research centre based at University of Auckland).
