Syria crisis: Hague says Britain backs United States over Syria use of chemical weapons

The Foreign Secretary William Hague has said Britain will be "urgently" discussing the international response to the US assessment of chemical weapons use as he said the government agrees with the US assessment that the Syrian regime had used chemical weapons.
Speaking ahead of the G8 summit, Mr Hague said the crisis demanded a "strong, determined and co-ordinated response from the international community".
Mr Hague's comments came the day after it emerged that US President Barack Obama had approved arming the Syrian rebels for the first time in response to the use of chemical weapons.
