"The Prime Minister said he wanted the occasion to be "a day of national celebration" and said he was in favour of the extra day off.
"A spokesman for the couple said they had seen Mr Cameron's comments and were also in favour of a bank holiday, but had yet to settle on a date for the wedding.
"When the Prince's father, the Prince of Wales, married Lady Diana Spencer in 1981, the nation was granted a day off work. The wedding took place on a Wednesday."
