Public school porter's 'plot to poison the Stowe soup'
Nick Britten
"Maxwell Cook, 58, allegedly tipped the liquid usually reserved for cleaning drains into the soup at the £27,000-a-year Stowe School.
"Fortunately, the court heard, the substance was discovered during a routine tasting shortly before it was to be served, and did not reach any of the schoolchildren or teachers.
"The court heard chefs noticed a "horrible" odour and "smell of bleach coming from the soup. If ingested, the drain cleaner can cause irritation, vomiting and swelling of the throat."
