Paralympics 2012: golden girl Ellie Simmonds grants PM an audience

The 17 year-old knocked more than a second off the world record she had set in qualifying earlier in the day as she beat her nearest rival by almost nine seconds, before being presented with her medal by David Cameron.
She pronounced herself “really chuffed” with her victory and cheekily suggested that, having already met the Prime Minister in Downing Street, it was time to “schedule a meeting at my place”.
It was her fourth Paralympic gold medal, and few would bet against her adding to that tally when she swims in the 50m freestyle today, the third of her four events.
