New Group Will Fight Drivers’ Cellphone Use

"Safety advocates credit Mothers Against Drunk Driving with helping to change attitudes about getting behind the wheel while intoxicated.

"They hope a new organization will similarly dissuade people from driving while talking or texting on a cellphone.

"On Tuesday, the Department of Transportation and the National Safety Council, a nonprofit group, plan to announce the formation of FocusDriven, a new organization aimed at spreading awareness about the dangers of distracted driving.

"FocusDriven, which is just beginning its recruiting and fundraising efforts, has taken cues about how to attack the issue from the leadership of M.A.D.D."
