"Police had had previous contact with a mother who allegedly murdered her two young children, officers revealed yesterday, as they waited to question her upon her release from hospital.
"Post-mortem examinations on the bodies of Harry, 3, and Elise, 2, discovered in two sports bags in the boot of their mother's car, showed that they had been asphyxiated.
"Shortly before, Fiona Donnison had walked into a Sussex police station. There were unconfirmed reports yesterday that her children had been dead for up to a week."
