Demonstrators block roads to demand action on climate change

Environmental activists blocked roads and swarmed landmarks in London calling on the "ecocidal Government" to take rapid action to avoid potentially catastrophic climate change.

Hundreds of members of the Extinction Rebellion group wore black funereal clothing and laid wreaths to "commemorate and grieve" the loss of animal and human life due to climate change on Saturday.

Demonstrators gathered at Buckingham Palace and around Parliament Square waving banners and laying flowers on a black mock coffin meant to symbolise humanity’s future.

Protesters dragged away after gluing themselves to Buckingham Palace gates

Police have arrested 14 activists in central London after Extinction Rebellion campaigners glued themselves to the gates of Buckingham Palace.

According to the group, an estimated 2,000 people descended on the Queen’s residency today to highlight the plight of species and wildlife being wiped out by harmful governmental policies.

Some protesters even brought along a makeshift coffin with the words ‘Our Future’ written along its side, which they held above their heads in front of the landmark.

Extinction Rebellion protest London: Hundreds of activists descend on central London for huge demonstration

More than 1,000 protesters have descended on central London for a huge demonstration by climate group Extinction Rebellion.

The activists blocked all of the roads around Parliament Square as they planned to bury a coffin which they said represented the future of life on the planet.

Images showed the coffin being marched to Downing Street and the gates of Buckingham Palace during Saturday's rally.

Extinction Rebellion protests block London bridges

Central London traffic has been disrupted by protesters who blocked off major hotspots as part of a "rebellion day".

Extinction Rebellion protestors blocked traffic at Lambeth, Tower and Vauxhall bridges, Elephant and Castle and Earls Court.

Organisers said 100 people gathered in central London to demand the government take greater action on climate change.
