SANFORD, Fla. — George and Shellie Zimmerman struggled with money problems. The year they married, he was sued over a credit card bill. Three years later, so was she.
They spent their first years together in a home owned by her parents.
Their lives changed radically when George Zimmerman shot and killed an unarmed youth, Trayvon Martin, in February after calling police to report a suspicious person. Money began pouring in via a website Zimmerman set up.
