BBC staff told to stop living in the Dark Ages

"A number of high profile stars, including BBC Breakfast's Sian Williams and Chris Hollins have indicated they will not be moving when the corporation relocates part of its production to a new base in Salford next year.

"As well as BBC Breakfast, the corporation is also moving BBC Radio 5 Live to the new MediaCityUK near Manchester.

"It is claimed the development, which is intended to reduce the London-centric nature of the Corporation, will create up to 10,000 jobs and add £1 billion to the regional economy over the next five years.

"But the plans have not proved hugely popular with staff, with just over half so far agreeing to relocate to the north-west."
